Clinical Youth Crisis Director (Lorain)

Applewood Centers is a private, nonprofit agency providing mental health services, social services and education to children, adolescents and families living in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties. Dedicated to addressing a variety of behavioral, emotional and learning problems, we provide a continuum of care from outpatient counseling to residential treatment.

Position Summary: Clinical Youth Crisis Director will oversee our Mobile Response Stabilization Services (MRSS) program. MRSS is a short-term, intensive community-based support program that can include: safety assessments, de-escalation, skill building and linkage to ongoing support. The MRSS team is comprised of licensed mental health professionals, non-licensed trained mental health staff and peer support providers. The Director will supervise managerial staff and oversee support staff.  This position has the potential to grow into a larger Director role. It also offers an opportunity to maintain an awareness of industry trends, identify Lorain county-specific issues and gain professional knowledge through establishing professional networks.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Develop and oversee the implementation of all Lorain Co.  programs provided to children, adolescents and families.  Monitor, evaluate and update programs with regard to the needs of client population.  Direct staff in the areas of new trends and developments in the industry.
  • Direct program staff in all aspects of daily operations including case management, individual counseling, school based services, community based services, MRSS, med/som, consultation and educational assistance, safety and behavioral issues.  Evaluate, support and/or enhance staff skills through supervisor meetings and direct observation.
  • Oversee client treatment by reviewing, interviewing and oversight of staff, supervising daily operations and case management review.  Responsible for crisis intervention in response to emergency medical, emotional and physical situations.  Responsible for preparation of and timely maintenance of clinical records ensuring compliance with all applicable licensing standards and federal, state and local laws.
  • Serve as Agency liaison and maintain appropriate relations with other departments and social service agencies.  Participate in management and off-site Agency meetings.   With the Director of Chief Operating Officer, serve as liaison to the Lorain Co. Mental Health Board (MHARS board) with regards to programming, service delivery and community development issues.
  • Ensure program operations and activities adhere to legal guidelines and internal policies. Prepare service and statistical reports on program services, caseload activities, and general goal achievement, and prepare other administrative reports as required.  Ensure timely completion of all reports. Management and oversight of the division budget.
  • Provide administrative supervision to the program and staff including, but not limited to, hiring, supervision, evaluation, disciplinary actions and termination of employees.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum Master’s Degree in Social Work, Counseling or related field
  • Valid Ohio LISW-S or LPCC-S or LIMFT required.
  • Proven experience in public relations, community development and both clinical and administrative supervision.
  • Minimum three years working with children, adolescents and their families.
  • Minimum three years leadership experience
