JOB SUMMARY:
Under the supervision of the Director of Community Services provides outpatient psychiatric nursing care within the scope of nursing practice. Provides nursing services and sessions under the supervision of an assigned Psychiatrist or Psychiatric APRN.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  • Completes an accurate assessment of the patient including but not limited to: mental status exam, current medications, compliance, side effects, risk, substance abuse, psychosis and current symptoms.
  • Documents the assessment in the patient record  including but not limited to: subjective and objective information, consultation with the psychiatrist, plan for follow up.
  • Contributes to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.  All documentation to be submitted within set program deadlines.
  • Collaborates and coordinates with psychiatry scheduler.
  • Triage phone messages and internal and external referrals. Identifies and notifies psychiatrist of abnormal laboratory/test results &/other critical updates.
  • Meet Agency productivity requirements.
  • Work closely with a mutidisplianry team to ensure holistic care for patients.
  • Collaborates with the psychiatrist/Psychiatric APRN and carries out recommendations.
  • Facilitates coordination of care through open communication with other departments within the Agency and using community resources.
  • Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  • Ensure that all required training, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  • Maintain a good on-time and attendance record.


OTHER DUTIES:
  • Attend team meetings and consultations on time and as scheduled.  Be open to feedback and suggestion from others, be prepared for meetings, actively participate as a supportive team member, and maintain a positive working relationship with co-workers.
  • Incorporate supervisory suggestions and directions into clinical practice.
  • Apply professional training to revise and update clinical practice.
  • Collaborate with agency staff and administration on behalf of program changes.   
  • Participate, as required, in program and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Have or maintain a good on-time attendance record.
  • Perform other duties as directed.

QUALIFICATIONS:
 
  • Education:  Minimum Associate Degree in Nursing. Specialized training in or certification in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing.
  • Licensure:  Active Ohio Registered Nurse license.

    • Technical Proficiency: Demonstrate competence in utilizing Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions
  • Experience: 3-5 years’ experience in mental health field required.  Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families.
