QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. Education: Associates Degree required. Bachelor’s Degree in Education or related field preferred.
  2. Licensure: Educational Aide permit or Non-tax certificate from the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce required.
  3. Experience: Experience working with children, adolescents, and their families required.
  4. Other: A valid driver's license with approved driving record(less than 6 points), personal transportation and insurance, if required to drive on behalf of the agency.

JOB SUMMARY:
Plan, teach and evaluate student learning in a special education setting.  Differentiate curriculum for all students.  Help students learn to manage emotions and behavior within the classroom.  Work closely with all members of the school team to deliver intervention, lessons and activities. Maintain case load of up to 12 students.  Provide services as indicated in students’ Individual Educational Plan.  Maintain direct contact with students, parents/guardians, mental health professionals and home school district representatives. Responsible for detailed student records in compliance with the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce standards. The Intervention Specialist is supervised by the School Principal.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Act as the lead aide in providing support to teaching staff in applying positive behavior management principles within a designed, individualized behavior program for students.  
  2. Provide individual assistance in implementing the academic program designed by the Teacher within the Teacher's classroom.
  3. Under the supervision from principal, participate in school in PBIS model. As necessary, implement PBIS model in classrooms and throughout the school day. Apply behavior management strategies within team designed behavior management program.
  4. Protect children from physical and emotional harm emanating from themselves, others, or the environment.
  5. Properly handle emergencies such as injury, runaway, and acting out situations in accordance with Agency policies and procedures.
  6. Role model pro-social, mediation, and self-management skills.
  7. Develop trusting, positive relationships among students and staff.
  8. Should the staff have an Ohio Non-Tax license, teach up to 2 elective courses under direction and guidance of the Principal.
  9. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  10. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the student record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.  All documentation to be submitted within set program deadlines.
  11. All required training, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  12. Provide care to students, including supervising students when using restroom, caring for sick students as needed, and assisting during bus and school transitions.

OTHER DUTIES:
  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training as required
  2. Maintain trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards
  3. Maintain necessary documentation and oversight of client clinical record
  4. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment.  All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  5. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  6. Other duties as assigned by management.
